 DAY 1 WEDNESDAY 26 SEPTEMBER PERTH - KALGOORLIE   Your Tour Escort, Kevin Pearce will be on hand this morning at the East Perth Rail Terminal to assist with check in. After the Indian Pacific has departed Perth it’s time to settle in to our Gold Service Sleeper Cabin to relax and enjoy the passing scenery. We enjoy lunch as the beautiful Avon Valley ushers us into the eastern wheatbelt. After tonight’s dinner in the train’s Queen Adelaide Restaurant, there is time to take an optional sightseeing tour of Kalgoorlie-Boulder by night before the train departs for the vast Australian outback and the Nullarbor Plain. DAY 2 THURSDAY 27 SEPTEMBER KALGOORLIE - NULLARBOR PLAIN   This morning after we enjoy a leisurely breakfast we soon enter the Nullarbor Plain - a vast limestone plateau. On reaching Nurina we travel the longest straight section of railway in the world, 478 km to Ooldea without a single curve. At Cook you may wish to alight to admire and photograph this fascinating plain. Lunch and dinner are served in the restaurant car. INDIAN PACIFIC (B.L.D.)

DAY 3 FRIDAY 28 SEPTEMBER ARRIVE ADELAIDE Early this morning we arrive at Adelaide’s Parklands Rail Terminal. We are then transferred to our luxury hotel for breakfast before embarking on a city sightseeing tour. Visit Colonel Lights Lookout for fabulous views over the city, then to North Adelaide, St Peters Cathedral, and the charming suburb of Hyde Park. We visit the Haigh’s Chocolate Factory before taking a trip to Glenelg on the popular Glenelg Tram. After leaving the city streets the tram travels over a former railway line. There is time to purchase morning tea at this popular beachside suburb before arriving back at our hotel for check in. The remainder of the afternoon is free to further explore Adelaide, or relax in our first class hotel before dinner. HILTON HOTEL (B.D.)
 

DAY 4 SATURDAY 29 SEPTEMBER GOOLWA - VICTOR HARBOR Today we enjoy a full day touring to the Fleurieu Peninsula. We visit the historic river port of Goolwa located near the Murray Mouth and joined by a bridge to Hindmarsh Island. We continue along the coast to Victor Harbor, a delightful and popular tourist town. Nearby Granite Island is home to a large colony of Fairy Penguins which are a popular attraction on the island. We cross the causeway to the island by the Victor Harbor Horse Drawn Tram for lunch at a local café. After lunch we return to the mainland by tram to join our coach for the drive back to Adelaide. DAY 5 SUNDAY 30 SEPTEMBER ADELAIDE AT LEISURE Today is a free day at leisure. You might like to take a walk along the tree lined boulevard of North Terrace where you will find the Art Gallery, Museum, Government House, and the nearby Botanical Gardens. HILTON HOTEL (B.L.D.) 

DAY 6 MONDAY 01 OCTOBER ADELAIDE – HAHNDORF – MANNUM After a leisurely breakfast there is some free time before checking out of our hotel. We then tour through the Adelaide hills en route to the oldest German settlement town in Australia, Hahndorf. There is time to stroll along the shady century-old trees lining the main street and view the unique wares and local crafts before making our way to the Old Mill for lunch. After lunch we transfer to Mannum to board the Murray Princess. Late afternoon we depart and sail upriver while we enjoy pre-dinner drinks and a Welcome Dinner. As we cruise under floodlight to our overnight mooring at Caurnamont, you may see nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank. Watch for grey kangaroos, hairynosed wombats, Murray longnecked tortoises, spoon-beaked egrets and many other species. The on-board entertainer provides music into the night. MURRAY PRINCESS (B.L.D)

DAY 7 TUESDAY 02 OCTOBER BLANCHETOWN Daybreak and time for the keen photographers to be out to capture the special light and the morning movement of wildlife. Prolific birdlife includes pelicans, blue wrens and black swans. Enjoy a leisurely morn ing and lunch cruising upriver to Blanchetown through one of the 13 locks which maintain the flow and levels of water. This afternoon we moor near Salters Station for our overnight anchorage. As the last rays of sun fade, we join a guided tour of Burk Salter’s vineyard on the banks of the river and enjoy wine tasting at his cellar door. Tonight is fancy dress on board (bring your own or hire one). We also have our famous musical quiz. MURRAY PRINCESS (B.L.D.)

DAY 8 WEDNESDAY 03 OCTOBER SWAN REACH After breakfast cruise downriver to picturesque Swan Reach. The town was first settled in the 1850s and was originally the largest of five sheep and cattle stations in the area and is now home to native flower and fruit growers. The original Swan Reach homestead is now the Swan Reach Hotel where you can enjoy an ale or cappuccino overlooking the Murray River. Join the guided walking tour and visit the Swan Reach Museum - a must for every visitor. Cruise downriver after lunch and take in the tranquillity as the landscape slides by or enjoy a lifestyle and info-cruising presentation. We arrive at Sunnydale where it’s all ashore for the Woolshed Show as we recreate typical Australian woolshed history. Later we visit the Native Wildlife Shelter where some of South Australia’s most interesting native animals are cared for. And then, of course, there is the great Aussie Barbecue - cooked and served in a bush setting on the banks of the mighty Murray River. An optional nocturnal tour by tractor and cart is available after dinner. MURRAY PRINCESS (B.L.D)

DAY 9 THURSDAY 04 OCTOBER CAPTAIN’S FAREWELL DINNER   After breakfast the ship cruises slowly downstream past magnificent cliffs scoured by the river over millions of years. We reach Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve, one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites, for a step back in time – tens of thousands of years – on a guided boardwalk to view ancient rock carvings and to learn about aboriginal history in the area.   We return to the ship to cruise downriver to Younghusband. Along the way, adventure seekers can also take a speed boat ride. Tonight the Captain and his officers host a spectacular Farewell Captain’s Buffet. DAY 10 FRIDAY 05 OCTOBER ADELAIDE – PERTH After breakfast, Murray Princess arrives at Mannum where we reluctantly say farewell to the crew and new found friends. We join our road coach for the transfer back to Adelaide with a stop at the famous Adelaide Markets with time to purchase lunch before heading to the airport for our flight home to Perth. Deposits and payments

A non-refundable deposit of $500.00

per person is required together with a signed booking form within five days of making a reservation to secure your booking. Final payment of the balance is required before 28 June, 2012.

Cancellation charges

Cancellation charges per person are:

Deposit non-refundable.

90 days or less prior to departure – 100% of tour cost.

120 – 90 days prior to departure –

50% of total tour cost.

Refunds – No refunds can be given to any passenger who joins the tour after its commencement , or for early departure from the tour. Refunds are not available for any meals, accommodation or excursions not partaken during the tour.

Tour Escort

A tour escort will accompany this departure subject to a minimum of 16 passengers travelling in the group.

IMPORTANT TRAIN INFORMATION

CONCESSIONS

Pensioners must be in possession of a valid Australian Pension card. CSHC Seniors must be in position of a valid Commonwealth Seniors Health Card. Your travel consultant will pleased to explain the requirements.

INDIAN PACIFIC CABIN LAYOUT

Twin sleeper cabins on the train have upper and lower sleeping berths. Ensuite facilities include toilet, wash basin and shower.

TRAVELLING SOLO

Solo travellers will be allocated a single cabin which is smaller than the twin cabins and features a fold out single bed and wash basin. Shower and toilet facilities are located at the end of the carriage. Sole use of a twin cabin is available at extra cost.

   

LUGGAGE

Luggage can be taken into your compartment but space is limited, especially if you are travelling solo in a single cabin aboard the Indian Pacific.

Please bear this in mind when you are packing. Luggage can be checked in (limited to 20kg per item) for conveyance in the luggage van but cannot be accessed until we reach Adelaide.

BOOKING FORM

Must be completed and signed by all passengers travelling.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

It is most unwise to travel without comprehensive travel insurance against loss of luggage, sickness, accident and cancellation charges. Your travel consultant will be happy to discuss this with you.

Passengers who do not wish to take out travel insurance, or have arranged travel insurance elsewhere are required to sign a form to this effect.

TOUR CHANGES

At its discretion, the company reserves the right to change at any time the itinerary, hotels, mode of transport and sightseeing arrangements if it is deemed necessary due to local conditions or for operational reasons.
